I'm writing from somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea on our ship called the Flying Cat 3 lol. We're on our way from a Greek Island called Ios to Athens. We are both very depressed to leave, because it was the most amazing experience of our lives!
The first day there we were blown away by how beautiful the island is. We really just laid around the pool and hung out with the hotel staff, including their dog chili haha. At night we got dinner at a seafood restaurant overlooking the sea and walked through some of the shops. Then we went to the bars and clubs at night where we again met people from all over the world! We first met a Canadian guy who had just moved there a month ago as a scuba instructor. He took us to a lot of fun bars and introduced us to other locals. Unfortunately my camera has had some issues and it deleted all of my pictures from this night :( I had some really funny ones too! The sun started rising as we walked back to our hotel, because the clubs stay open until 7 am!
We also met a guy and a girl our age from NYC, who we met up with the next day. We all spent the day at the beach and bought rafts to float out to the sea on. I wish I had pictures of that because I think we looked rediculous! After a long nap on the beach we all went to a mexican restaurant on top of one of the hills that overlooked the entire island. It was beautiful!!! The restaurant was also set up with beds and hammocks so everyone ate and then laid around to listen to the live acoustic music and enjoy the view. It was kind of hippy but a lot of fun! We exchanged traveling stories with our NYC friends and it was interesting to hear about their experiences. They had both lost their jobs and decided to spend a year traveling on an open ticket.
Fortunate for us they were staying at the nicest resort on the island, so they took us to their pool for the rest of the night. In the morning Yanni, the hotel owner, drove us to the port where we had to say goodbye to our new friends. I am excited for Italy, but already anxious to go back to Ios. Anyone want to join? haha
I'll talk to you soon from Italy!
